Marco Salzedo joined the Government Commercial Function (GCF) as Director of Commercial and Contract Management Capability in 2017. Marco has over 30 years of commercial experience across the private sector, with 20 years experience in senior procurement roles successfully delivering complex and transformational change programmes. Marco joined the Civil Service from a FTSE Top10 company , where he was responsible for the procurement of Group Functions (Property, Facilities Services, Travel, Consultancy, HR and Financial Services) and Global Procurement Central Operations. Marco has applied his experience in the private sector to improve policy, process and commercial and contract management capability across government. He brings his passion for continuous challenge and transformation to the team, ensuring commercial colleagues and civil servants across government are empowered with the right skills to make business transformation work in the right way without losing core commercial values, such as social responsibilities, good terms and conditions and robust negotiation. As part of this he leads on a program to improve Contract Management Capability across government and the wider Public Sector via the CMCP Program. This program has now delivered training to over 25,000 staff enabling an uplift in Commercial and Contract Management capability to deliver better value for the taxpayer. His team is now focused on preparing via a comprehensive training program approx 50 000 Civil and Public Sector Servants for the introduction of the revised Public Procurement Regulations in 2023.
